Linux System Engineer The Systems Engineer will conduct limited-duration field support to deploy JDISS mission application products and provide systems and application support for Linux/Solaris JDISS products. The System Engineer is responsible for deploying JDISS produced applications, along with providing system administration and technical support for the applications. In addition to providing deployment and support to customers, the administrator will deploy, manage and maintain the production suite on site. This will include, but it not limited to OS and application installation (on premises and cloud environment), security hardening, scripting for installation automation, patch maintenance, backup and restoration and assistance with system accreditation. As a member of the team, the systems engineer is expected to learn each JDISS products they will deploy and use their engineering skills to determine alternate methods for more efficient deployment. The candidate may also provide engineering support to the Systems Integration team as needed. The position travels to agencies in the continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS). Travel is up to 20% within one year. What Youll Get to Do: Provide technical support for associated JDISS applications, on-site, off-site and in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud environment, by electronic means or through direct on-site support. Conduct operational test evaluations of all JDISS applications. Engage and collaborate with a small team of technical experts supporting JDISS applications and providing technical support to JDISS customers. Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve installation, upgrading/patching, monitoring, and problem resolution. Provide backup and recovery services; manage file systems and disk space; manage virus protection on a routine basis. Develop and document technical procedures and processes for production suite. The position travels to agencies in the continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS). Travel is up to 20% within one year to install JDISS applications on Linux platforms Youll Bring These Qualifications: Active TS/SCI. BS in IT or IT management and 4 years direct experience or 7 years same experience. Experience supporting Linux/Solaris OS server environments Experience with installing, building, and problem resolution for Linux/Solaris based servers. Experience managing and maintaining Linux/Solaris in a VMware environment.
