Westat is seeking a Senior Survey Methodologist to join our internationally respected, highly collaborative, multidisciplinary statistical science team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing staff who conduct methodological research to develop and improve survey procedures and capabilities; developing innovative survey methodologies; mentoring junior staff; and collaborating with other practice areas in project development.

Job Responsibilities:
• Serve as senior methodologist on a variety of survey projects;
• Provide development and design expertise across single or multi- mode (in-person, telephone, self-administered) data collection projects;
• Initiate and lead research projects. Examples of methodological areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, nonresponse rates and nonresponse bias; mode effects; uses of paradata; questionnaire design; pretesting methods; multi-mode data collection; computer-based training for survey staff; experiments with surveys; and survey error evaluations;
• Provide leadership to a team of survey methodologists, such as organizing discussion groups of recent methodological papers, suggesting and reviewing conference presentations, and mentoring staff. 
• Collaborate with the Practice Management team to further business development activities including capture and proposal efforts for new opportunities.

Basic Qualifications:
• A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Survey Methodology or related field with course work in survey methods, or a Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field plus equivalent work experience in survey methods. 
• At least 10 years of experience related to survey methods.

Preferred Qualifications:
• A record of publications and conference presentations;
• Experience mentoring, guiding, educating and growing staff.

You will leverage your communication skills (both written and verbal), to clarify objectives and ensure project plans will efficiently and effectively meet them. This role will require you to be able to work independently and also collaboratively with experts in other subject areas as part of interdisciplinary research teams to create innovative methodological solutions to address analytic and research goals at the project design and implementation stages.
