Responsibilities

This position is a mission critical occupation for HRSA. This position is responsible for ensuring that operational and fiscal activities align with and enable accomplishment of Health Resources and Services Administration's mission, goals and objectives.

MAJOR DUTIES:

As the Deputy Director of the Office of Legislation, you will assist the Director of Legislation as the principal source of advice on matters of legislation and policy encompassing the planning of the overall legislative programs; the analysis and evaluation of legislative proposals; the evaluation of proposed legislation referred for comment by congressional committees; the analysis, evaluation, and processing of legislatively-mandated reports to the Congress; and managing the legislative portfolio which includes oversight of a team.

In order to qualify for this GS-15 position, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-14 level in the federal service.

Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, an applicant's one full year of specialized experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for successful job performance.

Examples of qualifying specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular and recurring basis: Managing legislative affairs activities for an organization; developing long-range operational plans for a program or organization; and, coordinating and integrating the efforts of personnel to provide optimum use of overall resources to ensure effective administrative and operational policies, approaches, methods, and techniques.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
