Summary

This position is located in the Office of the General Counsel, Program Support Branch. The supervisor is Cynthia Dekle. This is a Bargaining Unit position and requires no travel. Expenses associated with interview and/or relocation will NOT be paid. This position is not subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

You will serve as a Program Assistant to the Office of General Counsel (OGC). Your daily tasks include providing administrative support, serving as OGC's property custodian and time and labor coordinator and providing space management and controlled correspondence support in addition to IT and customer service and administrative services to all OGC divisions and the front office. The selectee will be required to learn the ArkCase system (an electronic case management system used internally to track and generate reports on certain matters in litigation) and serve as the ArkCase system administrator.

Other duties include:
  • Assists the Chief, Program Support Branch (PSB) by maintaining a system for control of assignments made within PSB to assure timely completion of work.
  • Provides specific guidance to staff relative to nature of assignments and follows up on progress of various work projects.
  • Tracks and coordinates PSB projects and provides status updates to branch chief and Deputy General Counsel for Hearings and Administration.
  • Serves as Property Custodian for OGC and exercises management control over the OGC property assigned to their custodial area by establishing procedures for maintaining records of the location and assignment of property, doing periodic inventories, conducting searches for lost or stolen property, properly reporting damaged property, and ensuring that proper procedures are followed for the transfer of property between and within custodial areas. Attends periodic training to keep current on procedures governing the agency's property management program.
  • Serves as Time and Labor Coordinator for OGC. Submits requests to create and update task profiles for all OGC staff, as needed. Submits updates to workgroup profiles to reflect changes in work schedules as needed. Monitors individual profiles to ensure staff are assigned to the correct division/branch. Ensures that prior period adjustments are made when staff charges time to incorrect activity code. Provides assistance and guidance to timekeepers.
  • Serves as the system administrator of the ArkCase system. The selectee will be required to adhere to a high standard of confidentiality due to the commercial, financial, and personal nature of the data contained in the system.

In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GG-8 (lower) grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices in the field of administration, office management, and project management skills sufficient to support the day-to-day administrative operations of the office, and satisfactory working relationships within your organization or similar level to accomplish tasks.

A transferable security clearance from another agency or a background investigation leading to a clearance is required for all new hires. To begin work at the NRC without a security clearance, you must be granted a temporary waiver of the required clearance, referred to as a 145(b) waiver. To be eligible for a 145(b) waiver you will need a favorable education verification, reference, credit, and criminal history checks. If a wavier is granted, the successful completion of a background investigation and favorable adjudication is required for continued employment. If you have resided outside the U.S. for an extended period of time, the agency may not be able to (1) grant the 145(b) waiver where the required investigation cannot be completed in a timely manner, or (2) achieve timely completion of the background investigation required for a security clearance.
