Responsibilities

If selected for the position, you may perform the following duties:
  • Provide supervision and oversight to the subordinate NIAID IT Security Staff.
  • Provide leadership in the analysis of IT security issues and the development and implementation of NIAID, NIH, and Federal IT security policy.
  • Lead the development and implementation of program goals, policies, objectives, strategies, and procedures for NIAID-wide information security.
  • Assess and identify major NIAID-wide cross-cutting security initiatives and provide leadership and direction of these activities.
  • Direct NIAID staff in keeping abreast of information security programs, risk management analysis and assessment, contingency planning, IT strategic and tactical planning, and other related fields.
  • Serve on senior-level interagency panels and committees concerned with government-wide and Departmental IT security programs.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:1. Attention to Detail - am thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; 2. Customer Service - Work with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; know about available products and services; am committed to providing quality products and services; 3. Oral Communication - Express information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; make clear and convincing oral presentations; listen to others, attend to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately; 4. Problem Solving - identify problems; determine accuracy and relevance of information; use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: collaborating with management officials to develop IT Security policies and strategies to operationalize IT Security requirements; managing teams in initiating, planning, designing, and developing information systems security programs; assessing and identifying major cross-cutting IT security initiatives for an organization; advising and consulting with officials on issues related to information security and information resource management in meeting the goals and mission of an organization.
