Responsibilities

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing budget and financial management support to the U.S. Attorney's Office in the District of Columbia.

Typical work assignments will include:

- Informing employees of applicable travel procedures and reimbursable travel expenses.
- Assigning appropriate accounting classification codes and object classification and entering the required information into and electronic accounting system.
- Reviewing bills against source documents prior to payment ensuring accuracy of goods or services, and for timeliness and consistency with DOJ procedures and federal requirements.
- Reviewing requests and forms for complete information and all authorized signatures, obligating funds, and creating files.
- Processing and generating checks for payment.
- Evaluating validity of internal district requests and determining adequacy of justification based upon program plans and accomplishments, and policy guidance.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel occasionally for training, 3-5 days.

Qualifications

To be found eligible at the GS-09 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service, which has equipped you with the competencies to perform the duties of the position; or a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; or a combination of specialized experience as and education which when combined equal 100% of the requirements. Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.

Specialized experience is defined as applying principles, concepts and methods to perform financial procedures and reporting. Reviewing the accuracy of funding requests, obligations, invoices, payments, and reports. Answering employees questions on travel policies and regulations and preparing travel authorizations and vouchers for approval. Entering data in an electronic financial program, assigning classifications codes and object classification, and reconciling accounts. Reconciling credit card statements. Assists in determining adequacy of expenditure justifications. Enters data into a variety of financial forms, schedules, and reports.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. Payment of relocation expenses will not be authorized.
