Responsibilities

If selected for this position, you will serve as the Supervisory Human Resource Specialist (Programs), in the United States Attorney's Office, District of Columbia. The incumbent will be responsible for providing comprehensive management advisory and technical services; applying analytical and problem solving methods and techniques; and presenting findings or recommendations related to employee benefits, performance management and personnel security.

Typical work assignments will include:
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of employment security requests for employees, contractors and interns to ensure requests are processed accurately and timely;
  • Educates employees on federal employee benefits and oversees the benefits program and processing;
  • Oversees and manages the performance management, including performance, incentive awards and beneficial suggestion programs, by educating and advising managers and supervisors.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Occasional travel - You may travel for training 3-5 days per year.

Qualifications

Experience:

In order to qualify for this position at the GS-13, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level, GS-12, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.

Specialized experience is defined as providing comprehensive management advisory and technical services in regard to Human Resource laws and regulations, employee benefits, performance management, incentive awards, security processing, and drug testing. Applying analytical and problem solving methods and techniques related to benefits, employees, and employees rights and presenting findings and or recommendations. Communicating with employees, supervisors, and management to ensure the Human Resource programs, policies, requirements, and staff needs are being fulfilled.

Credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
