Summary

The incumbent assists in the oversight of programs for the Division of Neuroscience and Basic Behavioral Science (DNBBS) , which includes funding and managing the portfolios, and maintaining a diverse portfolio, aligned with the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Strategic Plan. The incumbent works closely with the program divisions and offices within DNBBS to align programs with institute priorities, and works closely with grants management and budget on policy and fiscal issues.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct special studies, experiments and simulations designed to support planning and evaluation of NIMH DNBBS programs, policies and procedures.
  • Establish criteria to measure and/or predict the attainment of program or organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develop strategies that utilize valid programmatic and mathematical concepts, models, and simulations and employs various widely-accepted strategies to validate data retrieval and statistical methods for the adequacy of concepts and techniques.
  • Prepare written reports consisting of research findings and recommendations and presents at scientific conferences and other public forums.
  • Serve as a participant on various Trans-NIMH workgroups and committees as necessary.

Qualifications

Education Requirement:
Bachelor's degree, or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained).

In addition to the education requirement, you must meet the qualification requirement below:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Conducts analyses and evaluations of information collected on biomedical and behavioral science research programs, on a quantitative or qualitative basis; evaluates the effectiveness of programs and operations in meeting established goals and objectives by identifying gaps and recommending solutions; analyzes and integrates program, financial, technical, and other relevant information; and researches new legislation and changes in federal regulations and policies.
