GENERAL SUMMARY The Vice President, Product Management for the School of Nursing is a key leadership role at Company. This individual is responsible for leading all online programs and products for this signature school, which today serves over 20,000 students and more than 30,000 alumni. Students in this program are often working adults now looking to obtain additional degrees and credentials in areas like nursing education, nursing practitioner programs, and other specialties. The VP of Product Management directs all aspects of the School of Nursing from enrollment and marketing through to online program development, clinical experience, and student success. This includes collaborating and liaising with academic, marketing, sales, operations and technology stakeholders and functional groups across the university to align on direction, establish enrollment targets, assess new opportunities, launch new programs, and assume ownership of the full business P&L for the School of Nursing. The VP of Product Management is a seasoned product and marketing professional, with deep experience in successfully managing teams across a highly matrixed environment. Core skills include the ability to strategically define the direction and vision for the School of Nursing, establish short- and long- term goals, influence and lead teams, monitor performance and successfully manage business growth and profitability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee and operate as a general manager and business owner in directing all aspects of the School of Nursing, working in close collaboration with academic leadership, as well as sales, business and operations teams. Establish the strategic direction and goals for the School, aligning teams on priority setting, sales and operational goals to drive student success. Assume full ownership of the program and product portfolio, which today includes a range of Bachelor s, Master s and Doctoral programs, as well as certificates and specializations primarily targeted to the working adult market. Responsible for the product and program vision, strategy, design and nursing category management working in a highly matrixed collaborative environment across functional teams to meet business, academic and customer needs. Champion new market, program and product opportunities to effectively compete in a constantly evolving market landscape. Develop team and functional goals across enrollment, marketing, program management, and operations teams understanding the value and expertise that each functional team brings to the success of the portfolio, and ensuring alignment to the nursing business goals and objectives. Serve as the organizational business leader for Nursing, clearly communicating the value differentiation and opportunities, as well as benchmarking performance and market share growth. Operate as a creative, entrepreneurial business leader willing to step outside the box, reengineer new systems, and cultivate new opportunities to drive sustainable long-term growth. Full responsibility for the School of Nursing P&L working with stakeholders across the business to allocate resources where necessary, manage, analyze and drive performance across the portfolio optimizing enrollment and marketing opportunities and investments. MANAGEMENT/ SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead and direct all aspects of the Nursing business with oversight of all functional team activities that contribute to the School of Nursing. Foster a work environment of innovation, creativity and accountability. Majority of team leadership is across a matrix of strong functional teams; familiarity in leading across a matrix is key. Direct management responsibility for core product managers dedicated to the School of Nursing. External Requirements EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Minimum 10-15 years of product/portfolio management experience, with at least 5 years at the VP level. Proven success as a leader and decision maker in a collaborative, highly matrixed environment with multiple direct and indirect reporting structures throughout the organization. Demonstrated ability to drive P&L growth in a highly competitive and dynamic environment; experience building products and programs that deliver value to customers and return on investment. Experience inspiring and leading geographically dispersed teams effectively managing changes and opportunities and driving a high-performance, accountable and agile culture. Strong understanding of the full product management lifecycle from program and product launch through to commercialization. A strategic and tactical business leader understands and sets the vision, while also working side by side teams to drive day-to-day performance. Strong marketing, analytical and financial business acumen to respond to changing business situations and demands. Product management/marketing experience with a higher education or technology leader a plus. MBA or relevant graduate-level degree required.
