Responsibilities

  • You will apply basic software coding principles to modify or develop small software routines/scripts.
  • You will develop basic technical solutions in software to exploit known vulnerabilities in commercial software.
  • You will maintain version control by using prescribed naming convention and produce/test software in line with best practices.
  • You will utilize languages to develop and maintain custom code that automates well-defined steps in a process.
  • You will research and develop real-world solutions to common problems and threats.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret/SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require less than 10% travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a Counterintelligence (CI) scope polygraph examination with No Deception (ND).
  • You will be required to obtain access to NSA/U.S. Cyber Command facilities and networks through further security screening processes in order to accomplish assigned duties.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
  • You may be required to perform occasional evening/weekend work.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 621 within 6 months of appointment.

  • Applying software testing theory to code written under the supervision of a technical lead.
  • Performing analysis and reverse engineering of source code.

Education

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: ALL applicants must meet the basic education requirements in order to qualify for this position.Bachelor's or higher degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

Evaluation of Education:Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.
In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements, applicants must have specialized experience and/or directly related education in the amounts shown in the qualification standards.

For GG-09 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree
Education and experience may be combined for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.

This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f.
