Summary

This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, . As a/an DEPUTY DIRECTOR PRESERVATION PROGRAMS, you will be responsible for the management, supervision, and administration of Conservation Branch and Preservation Programs-central office staff and for assisting the Director in the development and implementation of overall RX policies and operations to achieve NARA and Preservation Programs strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

As a DEPUTY DIRECTOR PRESERVATION PROGRAMS, you will:
  • Provide management direction, program planning, and day-to-day operational oversight responsibility for Preservation Programs central office staff and the Conservation Branch.
  • Ensure that initiatives reflect Preservation Programs goals and NARA goals and policies.
  • Assist the Director of Preservation Programs in coordinating a nationwide, integrated NARA preservation program and policy development.
  • Advise the Director, Preservation Programs, and other high level NARA officials on archives and records preservation issues and ways to improve program effectiveness.

  • Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

    Specialized Experience for the GS-15: You must have one-year of experience at the GS-14 level, or equivalent in other public or private sections, that is directly related to the position as listed above and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

    Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
    • Supervising or assisting in leading a record preservation and conservation program; AND
    • Utilizing records handling and preservation concepts, laws, regulations, and policies, sufficient to provide advice and guidance to management relative to incorporating program strategies and operational processes; AND
    • Proposing and implementing solutions/strategies for program improvement to assure the continuing effectiveness of activities in support of an agency's mission.
