Summary

This position is located in the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration (EA), Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security (SIES), Strategic Analysis Division (SAD), Washington, District of Columbia. The primary purpose of this position is responsible for conducting independent studies of business/industry programs and functions which operate within conventional practices.

  • Monitoring technology transfer developments and preparing analyses and recommendations, as appropriate, to keep the export control system grounded on a sound technical foundation.
  • Maintaining liaison and consultative coordination with other components of DOC, inter-agency and industry, personally or through subordinates, to resolve problems and other matters of mutual interest.
  • Developing and formulates technical analyses in support of export control policy options.
  • Directing, planning, and organizing work of the division and employees.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below.

Specialized Experience: GS-15:
You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, performing the following duties:
  • Monitoring technology transfer developments and preparing analyses and recommendations, as appropriate, to keep the export control system grounded on a sound technical foundation;
  • Maintaining liaison and consultative coordination with other components of DOC, inter-agency and industry, personally or through subordinates, to resolve problems and other matters of mutual interest;
  • Developing and formulates technical analyses in support of export control policy options; and
  • Directing, planning, and organizing work of the division and employees
