Position Overview:

Freddie Mac's Finance division is seeking a Financial Controller Professional to join the Investments and Capital Markets (I&CM) CFO department.

Our Impact:

The Investments and Capital Markets CFO department is responsible for financial accounting and reporting, portfolio risk and profitability analysis, pricing and valuation activities and financial planning & analysis for Freddie Mac's Capital Markets segment. The candidate will perform accounting close cycle execution, and financial results analysis for various investment and debt securities in the I&CM Retained Portfolio. Our team is responsible for the transactional accounting related to trades executed by the I&CM trading desk and the associated commitment accounting.

Your Impact:

In this role, you will play an integral part supporting the financial close for the I&CM CFO department. As a member of the Purchases and Commitments team, you will be responsible for the accounting and analysis related to the purchase of Agency issued UMBS and a variety of structured securitization products. You will also be tasked with supporting the implementation of a new accounting subledger including user acceptance testing and conversion activities.

Baseline Accounting
  • Perform daily/monthly validations reconciling upstream trade data in Aladdin to data in the accounting subledger
  • Research and resolve data or other issues as they arise during the execution of daily or monthly tasks
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting data
  • Perform daily/monthly validations reconciling between the subledger, general ledger and source systems
  • Support SOX documentation requirements
  • Prepare ad-hoc requests when needed
  • Interact and communicate effectively with business and other upstream or downstream partners
  • Proactively seek opportunities for improvements


Financial Reporting
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly analytics reports
  • Prepare quarterly footnotes and disclosures to support public financial reporting


Special Projects, Research & Analysis
  • Support ad-hoc financial analysis requests and special projects
  • Seek accounting or data issues with internal and external partners (change management team, traders or valuation team) in a clear and timely manner
  • Work with project team and implementation partners to resolve issues related to testing and conversion activities
  • Demonstrate ownership of issues/requests and work with the appropriate resources to help facilitate a resolution


Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of GAAP accounting, financial reporting and financial analytics experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree
  • Strong data mining and analysis skills (SQL etc.)
  • Intermediate MS Excel and Word skills are required
  • Must have proven communication (both verbal and written) and analytical skills
  • Must be a phenomenal teammate, proactive, and detail oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to adjust and adapt to changes in the current process in order to meet management/company's changing needs
  • Investment accounting experience preferred
  • CPA is preferred
