Summary

This position is located in the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Office of IT Operations, Configuration and Management Division and serves as an Information Technology Specialist (APPSW/CUSTSPT), Organizational Title: Remedy Developer, a senior technical expert responsible for providing administration of software and systems.

As an IT Specialist (APPSW/CUSTSPT), you will:
  • Ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices in accomplishing the BEP customer support functions.
  • Develop, interpret, plan and apply policy, processes, procedures and strategies in the delivery of IT services required to achieve data and integration/interoperability for assigned systems and applications.
  • Integrate a variety of systems development activities and new technologies.
  • Plan, develop, coordinate and implement systems/efforts to provide assistance and guidance to users in both business and technical areas; review applications to assure compliance with regulations; and orient and train users in proper access and usage procedures.
  • Participate in accomplishing technical, analytical and advisory functions pertinent to the development of local policies, plans, and processes and ensuring that work accomplished is in compliance with higher authority policies and guidelines.
  • Serve as the technical expert and lead on tasks that may comprise of subject matter specialists, contractors, and lower grade journeyman assigned to assist in broad based customer support projects.
  • Provide expert technical guidance, interpretation, and implementation oversight of applicable information security policies, processes, and practices to ensure continued operational availability and integrity of enterprise applications, systems, networks, and data.

SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for disqualification in the hiring process. The background investigation process conducted by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is very thorough. Therefore it is imperative that applicants exercise candor and honesty when answering background questionnaires, especially as it relates to arrest, employment, education, finances, illegal drug use, and/or other criminal history. Falsification discovered in security documents or during the background investigation process may result in an immediate negative suitability determination or immediate revocation of your interim clearance (if applicable).

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
  • Experience administering or developing BMC Remedy Software.

Examples of such experience for the GS-13 could include:
  • Remedy Change Management, Tasks, Decision Trees, Knowledge Management, Service Request Management, Defining a Service Catalog, and Service Level Management, OR
  • Experience with BMC Discovery, BMC Client Management, BMC Remedy, BMC Helix ITSM and moving from BMC Remedy to Helix.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must have proficiency in each of the four competencies listed below.

1) Attention to detail, such as executing project plans, monitoring progress, and making modifications as needed.

2) Customer service, such as working closely with system users to identify requirements and provide advice and training.

3) Oral Communication, such as consulting with and advising IT Specialists in other specialty areas throughout an organization. and

4) Problem Solving, such as performing troubleshooting, testing and debugging to resolve issues.

- The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for work days during the shutdown period.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
