This position is in the Pathways Recent Graduate Program. This is a planned and progressive position which provides for the combination of formal training and federal work experience. Upon satisfactory completion of the training and work requirements, the employee is eligible for noncompetitive conversion into the competitive service.

Responsibilities

This is a developmental position designed to provide progressively more complex work and duty assignments in order to meet eligibility over time for advancement to a higher level full performance position.

The incumbent will perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities on a planned rotational basis in all of the functional disciplines with the Human Resources Directorate:
  • Staffing
  • Classification
  • Training
  • Employee and Labor Relations
  • HR information systems, to include suitability
  • Workers' Compensation

    Qualifications

    To be considered for a Recent Graduate appointment you must meet ONE of the following requirements:
    • Complete all requirements for an associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous two (2) years; -OR-
    • Complete all requirements for an associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution prior to the closing date of the announcement.
    OR
    • Veterans who, due to military service obligation, were precluded from applying to the Recent Graduate Program during any portion of the eligibility period described above shall have a full two-year period of eligibility upon release or discharge from active duty. This eligibility period cannot extend beyond 6 years from the date on which the individual completed the requirements of an academic course of study. You must have obtained your degree prior to the issuance of E.O. 13562-Pathways Legislation.
    In addition to meeting the Recent Graduate eligibility requirements, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

    Work assignments requiring analytical skills and provide practical experience for progressively more complex duties and responsibilities. The Incumbent must possess critical thinking skills that enable them to effectively interpret, analyze and evaluate data and develop creative solutions to problems encountered.

    The Pathways Recent Graduate Program allows participants an opportunity to be converted non-competitively to a career-conditional or term position once the recent graduate completes all requirements of the program. Recent Graduates are on a trial period for the duration of the program. Position will require 40 hours of formal training per year. To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Recent Graduates must:
    • Successfully completed at least 1-year of continuous service in addition to all requirements of the Program.
    • Demonstrate successful job performance.
    • Meet the Office of Personnel Management's qualifications for the position to which the Recent Graduate will be converted.

    GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

    FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
