Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief, Learning and Career Development Branch (LCDB), the incumbent is responsible for providing administrative and analytical support for a variety of office, training, curriculum functions within the branch. The incumbent determines the most appropriate method for obtaining data from the field on a variety of program areas within the branch in order extract usable information to develop and prepare program status reports, narratives, statistical charts and graphs as they pertain to training and BOP-Learn. Such information is used by the incumbent to generate a variety of regularly recurring qualitative reports which are often required. Reports may be statistical and/or require a written analysis of findings.

Incumbent will be responsible for assisting Curriculum Developers and Employee Development Specialists in curriculum design, preparation and delivery of professional and competency related learning and development programs for management and employees throughout the Bureau of Prisons.

Incumbent manages the LCDB Sallyport page to include developing and maintaining current accurate content. Plans and executes projects designed to improve the efficiency and productivity of program activities. Creates and duplicates training aids and reference material for staff as it pertains to Bureau curriculum and training.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements.

Education

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.M., if related. Graduate education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Experience

You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
  • Experience in analyzing and evaluating training programs and developing methods for measuring and improving training effectiveness, and tracking training and statistical data.
  • Experience assisting in curriculum design, preparation and delivery of professional and competency related learning and development programs.
  • Experience utilizing automated systems and software to enter and retrieve data, track information, and to produce a wide range of documentation (i.e. reports, spreadsheets, and statistical charts and graphs).

OR

Combining Education & Experience Have a combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the particular qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above.

This position IS NOT included in the bargaining unit.

The representative rate for this position is $79,233 per annum ($37.96 per hour)

NOTE: Salary ranges for all grade levels include both LEO and non-LEO salaries. LEO salaries apply to current LEO employees.

Special Conditions of Employment Section:

All applicants are subject to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit checks.

All applicants not currently working in an institution will be required to complete a qualification inquiry regarding convictions of misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence in order to be authorized to carry a firearm. The Core Value Assessment (CVA) is an in-person assessment that must be facilitated at a Bureau of Prisons Human Resource Servicing office. On the day of the scheduled interview, a CVA will be administered. The applicant assessment must be completed within a 70 minute time period and a passing score must be obtained. Further employment consideration will not be extended if the applicant fails to complete the examination or fails to achieve a passing score.

Note: The Core Value Assessment will not be administered to current BOP employees.

Successful completion of the "Introduction to Correctional Techniques," three-week training course at Glynco, Georgia is required.
