Description SAIC is seeking a Payload Digital Engineer to join our Space and Launch (S&L) Division. This Division provides technical and programmatic support to coordinate and execute spacecraft and payload acquisition, engineering, and production as well as adjunct payload accommodation, integration & test, and launch functions for spacecraft and payloads. The position will be located in Chantilly, VA . All candidates must have an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph . If you have technical expertise in spacecraft payload digital design, this is the job for you! In this role, you will be an integral participant in payload digital trades, design, performance analysis and hardware development. Key areas of focus include digital design trades, performance predictions and/or evaluations, system impact evaluations, hardware assembly & test, and digital subsystem integration. The following tasks are representative of those that will be accomplished at the request of the Government customer: Support the customer in the oversight of the design, integration & test of spacecraft payloads Provide expert advice and coordination concerning digital development Assess feasibility of new digital insertions and digital functionality enhancements Review and coordinate on changes to specifications, ICDs, and system level requirements documentation pertaining to the functionality and accommodation of digital hardware onto the satellite bus Review digital manufacturing specifications for accuracy and ensure documentation is complete and accurate Review drawings, documents and procedures for digital design, manufacturing, integration, program planning & execution; provide comments to the Government customer and/or spacecraft development contractor Track development issues, significant accomplishments and upcoming events and provide weekly status updates to the Government customer Develop digital unit models for performance evaluations and predictions Attend digital and payload level design reviews and program management reviews to assess digital design maturity, requirements compliance and to provide informed technical recommendations to the Government customer Identify and assess emerging risks; develop and evaluate proposed burn-down plans Review prime contractor readiness to proceed into digital manufacturing and test Provide expert advice/analysis on interface considerations for new digital developments Coordinate with payload subsystem leads, Branch Chiefs and Division Chiefs both with S&L Division and outward to System Engineering & Integration Advanced Plans Branch in support of new payload and payload subsystem initiatives Provide support to launch and satellite on-orbit tests as required by the Government customer Attend Payload Engineering Branch meetings as appropriate at the request of the Government customer to coordinate support activities Provide technical evaluation of payload efforts in contractor Engineering Change Proposals Attend contractor milestone reviews (eg PDR, CDR, pre-test, pre-ship, and other meetings) to provide technically based recommendations regarding satisfaction of digital related review entrance and exit criteria Provide support to factory integration & test activities as required Develop productive relationships with prime contractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other payload and payload subsystem subject matter experts Advise and mentor Government payload digital subsystem personnel regarding digital subsystem design elements Qualifications Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Bachelor's Degree in engineering discipline required 9 years professional experience with spacecraft digital design, manufacture, and test Experience in the design & integration of satellite payloads Knowledge of space system development and space vehicle development Experience in Department of Defense/Intelligence Community acquisition and program management processes Available to travel domestically Desired Qualifications Masters in Electrical Engineering
