An Overview
The Program Coordinator manages the City of Alexandria’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) and Crisis Intervention Team Assessment Site. Responsible for all data collection, course leadership and planning, and grant reporting. Coordinates all CIT activities in the City and participates in State-wide CIT forums and planning sessions.

The ideal candidate will have experience developing and managing a service program and administering a budget; Ability to plan, organize, and implement programs; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and representatives of private and community agencies; Ability to plan and supervise the work of others; Thorough knowledge of administrative practices and procedures; Knowledge of block grant concepts and the methods of preparing grant applications; Knowledge of fiscal policy and ability to plan, organize, and monitor a budget consisting of multiple funding sources.

The Opportunity
  • Provide overall management of CIT Assessment Site and CIT program;
  • Conduct weekly Assessment Site meetings;
  • Create data collection method that complies with DBHDS standards and requirements;
  • Coordinate regular CIT Steering Committee meetings;
  • Participate in various individual, team, treatment and committee meetings throughout the agency and community;
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to schedule and execute regular CIT 40-hour trainings;
  • Assess feedback from each 40-hour training and make recommendations for program improvements;
  • Coordinate with CIT Trainers for cross-training and skills-building;
  • Maintain list of current CIT Trainers;
  • Order all necessary items for execution of class;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

About the Department
The Center for Adult Services (CAS) provides programs and services in Aging; Adult Protective Services; Clinical & Emergency Services; and Community & Residential Support Services for seniors and for persons with mental illness, intellectual disabilities and substance use disorders. CAS provides compassionate and effective person-centered services based on best practices. Our teams support self-determination, safety and recovery for Alexandria residents affected by abuse, neglect, mental illness, intellectual disabilities and substance use disorders.

Minimum & Additional Requirements

A Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant professional or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

One year experience developing and managing a service program and administering a budget; completion of college-level courses in public administration, psychology, or related area; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. At least one year of experience with CIT program, and knowledge of Behavioral Health and Legal systems. Employees must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state of their residence.

Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM. Possible evening and weekend shifts.
