As a Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-12, you will develop and implement tactical communications plans or strategic partnerships that provide information and promote awareness of CMS programs and initiatives for a geographical area or segments of larger agency programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communications plans to provide information and promote awareness of CMS programs and initiatives.
  • Plan, evaluate, and conduct studies to identify potential problem areas that may benefit from education and outreach.
  • Develop responses to inquiries regarding program related activities to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and organize content for CMS education and outreach tactics, including consumer products, websites, social media channels, call center operations, and/or public events.
  • Establish and maintain contacts and working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders required to plan and execute tasks.

In order to qualify for the GS-12, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
(1) Developing consumer education products to communicate health care program options to customers;
(2) Participating in the organization of outreach activities such as public relations, publications, conferences, and presentations associated with health care programs; and
(3) Developing responses to inquiries regarding health care program related activities.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
