Description SAIC has an immediate, funded opening for a Systems Administrator. This position is principally a hands-on position that requires experience in Windows and/or Linux operating systems. The Sys Admin must possess the knowledge and skills to manage, and maintain a multi-level processing and storage system designed to hold unique, highly classified data. Knowledge of data center standards and regulations as well as an understanding of network planning methodologies, and knowledge of routing, ports, protocols, and transmission of data is also needed. The Sys Admin will be required to provide our customer with sound technical advice on the design and use of network, storage, and processing hardware and software and any applications required by end users. Responsibilities will include: Support day to day operations and maintenance of servers, network, and workstations Install new hardware such as switches, servers, storages, firewalls, and routers Cabling current and new setups including copper patching, fiber patching Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary Decommission and remove old hardware, including uncabling, removal from racks and disposing the equipment Assist with inventory tracking and management Update documentations Qualifications Current TS/SCI & Poly Required 2+ years of experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems 2+ years of experience in network technologies, including Layer 2, Layer 3, VPN, Routing, Switching, Firewalls., etc 2+ years of experience in cabling current and new setups including copper patching, fiber patching Ability to draw detailed diagrams and write clear documentation Willingness to learn new technologies works under supervision Attentiveness and detail-oriented approach Ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to think critically and exhibit strong problem-solving skills Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule that may include nights, weekends or holidays as required Overview SAIC is a premier technology integrator solving our nation's modernization and readiness challenges.
