Job Summary:
Westat is seeking a research assistant with strong quantitative skills to contribute to education research and evaluation projects. This position requires you to be onsite at our corporate office in Rockville, Maryland. 

Job Responsibilities:
• Developing code in statistical software to manipulate data, produce descriptive statistics, and conduct inferential analysis (e.g., multiple regression).
• Creating data visualizations with Microsoft Excel or other tools.
• Communicating results to collaborative project teams both verbally and in writing.
• Assisting with wide-ranging project activities including web survey testing, data collection, and report preparation.

Basic Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in the social sciences.
• Completed coursework in quantitative subjects such as statistics, economics, and/or mathematics.
• Experience using R to manipulate data and conduct statistical analysis.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience creating data visualizations with Microsoft Excel or other tools.
• Interest in education policy and programs.

Candidates must have strong quantitative and communications skills, be detail oriented and able to work as part of interdisciplinary teams.
