Responsibilities

  • You will serve as the N4 Deputy Department Head and Facilities Planning, Engineering/Environmental programs division supervisor.
  • You will plan work, set priorities and prepare schedules and make work assignments based on priorities and requirements of the job with the capability of the employee.
  • You will develop performance standards and evaluate performance along with giving advice, counsel or instruction relating to work or administrative matters.
  • You will provide technical assistance to the command and independently troubleshoot equipment and system issues, develop and evaluate data and make recommendations and/or initiate corrective action based on findings.
  • You will perform operational tests, maintenance and repairs in areas associated with electrical/electric power distribution equipment and condition power equipment (Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS)).
  • You will create and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training guides.
  • You will evaluate problems concerning regional activities electrical systems, electronic power systems and general electrical systems in order to plan and implement solutions to problems resulting from non-availability of material and/or resources.
  • You will assemble and review drawings, specifications, manufacturer's changes and technical publications to recommend proper application to operation and maintenance policies of electrical components.
  • You will provide assistance to supervisors on-site to expedite required modification, additions and changes which effect the operation and maintenance of various types of electrical and electronic power systems.
  • You will provide regional maintenance updates and materials to ensure medial maintenance to switch gear and other equipment can be scheduled and performed with maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.

  • You may be required to travel on short notice, for varying lengths of time to where normal travel, procurement, evaluation, and repairs are extremely difficult.
  • This position requires walking, bending, climbing, lifting, long periods of standing to inspect sites for data collection and remedial action.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by:
*Experience planning work, setting priorities and making work assignments based on priorities and requirements of the job and capability of the employee.
*Experience conducting training on intricate systems of electrical/electronic nature in proper operation, emergency operation, preventative maintenance requirements and repair of various systems.
*Experience operating and maintaining critical infrastructures that support the organizations communication mission such as heating and cooling systems, power distribution transformers, programmable logic controllers and uninterruptible power systems (UPS).
*Experience creating and reading structural, electrical and mechanical drawings using computer-aided drafting and imagining equipment to ensure more reliable operations.
*Experience evaluating, isolating, and providing difficult electrical and electronic solutions to Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) problems.
