You must be a member of the Acquisition Corps, become a member, or obtain a waiver at the time of selection and sign a three-year tenure agreement prior to assuming the position.* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You may need to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.QualificationsApplicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:GS-05 (or equivalent pay band): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying basic principles, concepts, and practices sufficient to assist a senior technician in constructing simple components to meet specific frequency requirements, certain voltage rating, etc.GS-06 (or equivalent pay band): Your resume must demonstrate that you have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying, standardized rules, procedures, or operations that require training and experience in electronics theory, methods, and equipment sufficient to follow specific layout and schematic drawings to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment, such as power supplies, amplifiers, and oscillators.GS-07 (or equivalent pay band): Your resume must demonstrate that you have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector creating means of arranging, mounting, and wiring components in a chassis to ensure circuit components are securely mounted to avoid malfunctioning under extreme temperature, shock, and vibration conditions.GS-08 (or equivalent pay band): Your resume must demonstrate that you have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector determining electronics assembly techniques and constructing a working model of equipment to meet specific shape, space, and weight requirements.GS-09 (or equivalent pay band): Your resume must demonstrate that you have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing assistance with collecting and evaluating electronics equipment performance data.GS-10 (or equivalent pay band): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) providing assistance with collecting and evaluating electronics equipment performance data; AND 2) interpreting and analyzing designs, diagrams, and schematics to evaluate feasibility.GS-11 (or equivalent pay band): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) providing assistance with collecting and evaluating electronics equipment performance data; 2) interpreting and analyzing designs, diagrams, and schematics to evaluate feasibility; AND 3) evaluating faults in the operational configuration of electronic systems and equipment.GS-12 (or equivalent pay band): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) providing assistance with collecting and evaluating electronics equipment performance data; 2) interpreting and analyzing designs, diagrams, and schematics to evaluate feasibility; 3) evaluating faults in the operational configuration of electronic systems and equipment; AND 4) developing designs, diagrams, and schematics for technical feasibility.GS-13 (or equivalent pay band): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) providing assistance with collecting and evaluating electronics equipment performance data; 2) interpreting and analyzing designs, diagrams, and schematics to evaluate feasibility; 3) evaluating faults in the operational configuration of electronic systems and equipment; 4) developing designs, diagrams, and schematics for technical feasibility; AND 5) analyzing and diagnosing faults in the operational configuration of electronic systems and equipment.GS-14 (or equivalent pay band): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing, managing, and implementing methods, processes, and practices for installing, fabricating, maintaining, sustaining, and/or troubleshooting complex electronics systems and/or equipment.GS-15 (or equivalent pay band): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector being responsible for providing executive-level management, planning, and direction of a research and development electronics department to include overseeing the installation, fabrication, sustainment, and the testing and evaluation of complex electronics systems.Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: Occupational Requirements link: may substitute education for experience in the following situations:GS-05 (or equivalent pay band): Successfully completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology, OR 3 years of study in an accredited (by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) curriculum in electronics, OR a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that included major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as those shown above for GS-4 or equivalent. At least 12 of the 24 semester hours must have been in electronics courses.GS-06 (or equivalent pay band): Successfully completed one full year of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled OR successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.GS-07 (or equivalent pay band): Successfully completed one full year of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled OR successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.GS-08 (or equivalent pay band): Successfully completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education OR successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree that is directly related to the position being filled.GS-09 (or equivalent pay band): Successfully completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education OR successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree that is directly related to the position being filled.GS-10 (or equivalent pay band): Successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree OR successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.GS-11 (or equivalent pay band): Successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree OR successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.NOTE: Education and experience may be combined for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.Applications will be accepted from students who expect to complete qualifying education within 9 months from the date of application.
