We are looking for an Instrumentation & Controls Technician to join our team in Washington, DC. This person will perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, installation and repairs of plant equipment and systems. Plant equipment includes plant control system, gas treatment systems, instrumentation, breakers, valves, motors, pumps, electrical systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and other associated equipment.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:* Use troubleshooting skills to diagnose system and equipment problems.* Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and systems.* Perform installation/replacement of plant equipment and systems.* Assist in planning and scheduling work for outages.* Assist in the administration and execution of the preventative maintenance program.* Assist in maintaining and controlling the plant inventory system.* Assist in vendor sourcing to ensure the best value and highest quality for the DC Water Cogeneration Facility.* Maintain and troubleshoot plant control system, gas quality monitoring system and associated balance of plant instrumentation and control equipment.* Install revisions or modifications to plant systems, update controls drawings and schematics.* Maintain custody records of calibration and test equipment.* Communicate and interact with inter-departmental personnel, vendors, and customer as necessary to accomplish tasks.* Follow all approved plant operating, maintenance and health and safety procedures.* Perform other duties, as assigned.* This position will be required to work overtime on a regular basis to support vacations, plant outages, emergency work, etc.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:* High school diploma or equivalent* Technical training (trade or military)* Five years power plant or industrial plant, I & C maintenance experience.* Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, basic steam plant and combustion turbine knowledge.* Computer, spreadsheet and word processing experience.* Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, data, operating and maintenance instructions, one-line diagrams, ladder logic, and procedure manuals.* Must be able to speak English plainly, write work orders and understand oral communications.* Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.* Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Decisions are made based on formal procedures, calculations, deductive reasoning, and consultation with supervisor.* Experience with analytical troubleshooting techniques and root cause failure analysis.* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb talk, hear and use hands.* Required to reach with hands and arms and to climb and balance.* Required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.* Required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds* Vision abilities include; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS:* Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, etc.* Familiarity with maintenance planning software such as Maximo or similar.WORK ENVIRONMENT* While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving parts and outside weather conditions.* The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat or cold.* The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, hazardous chemicals.* The employee is exposed to high noise level areas where hearing protection is required.Exelon is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and employees or applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to: age, color, disability, gender, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, protected veteran status, or any other classification protected by federal, state, or local law.VEVRAA Federal Contractor
