We are looking for an Instrumentation & Controls Technician to join our team in Washington, DC. This person will perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, installation and repairs of plant equipment and systems. Plant equipment includes plant control system, gas treatment systems, instrumentation, breakers, valves, motors, pumps, electrical systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and other associated equipment.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:* Use troubleshooting skills to diagnose system and equipment problems.* Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and systems.* Perform installation/replacement of plant equipment and systems.* Assist in planning and scheduling work for outages.* Assist in the administration and execution of the preventative maintenance program.* Assist in maintaining and controlling the plant inventory system.* Assist in vendor sourcing to ensure the best value and highest quality for the DC Water Cogeneration Facility.* Maintain and troubleshoot plant control system, gas quality monitoring system and associated balance of plant instrumentation and control equipment.* Install revisions or modifications to plant systems, update controls drawings and schematics.* Maintain custody records of calibration and test equipment.* Communicate and interact with inter-departmental personnel, vendors, and customer as necessary to accomplish tasks.* Follow all approved plant operating, maintenance and health and safety procedures.* Perform other duties, as assigned.* This position will be required to work overtime on a regular basis to support vacations, plant outages, emergency work, etc.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:* High school diploma or equivalent* Technical training (trade or military)* Five years power plant or industrial plant, I & C maintenance experience.* Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, basic steam plant and combustion turbine knowledge.* Computer, spreadsheet and word processing experience.* Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, data, operating and maintenance instructions, one-line diagrams, ladder logic, and procedure manuals.* Must be able to speak English plainly, write work orders and understand oral communications.* Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.* Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
