Summary

The incumbent of this position is an Information Technology Specialist assigned to the Systems Support Division in the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Applies the systems development life cycle (SDLC) in support of the unique functional and operational requirements of the NTSB using the full complement of Microsoft development tools and related technologies
  • Authors software documentation (Process/Product) to establish and explain product functionality, unify project-related information, and allow for discussing all significant questions arising between stakeholders and developers.
  • Supports and trains users in developed applications through documentation and hands-on sessions.
  • Evaluates the potential of new technologies in response to new or changing requirements.
  • Coordinates with the technical staff in resolving helpdesk activities to monitor and respond to user problems.
  • Participates in software and hardware evaluation and assessment aimed at optimal performance and interoperability between existing and proposed applications

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:

GS-11: Specialized experience at the GS-9 or equivalent is experience developing, implementing and maintaining both stand-alone and web-based applications using the full complement of Microsoft development tools and related technologies, to include the .NET Framework and Core runtimes within Visual Studio (using C#, VB, etc.), MS T-SQL Server, and JavaScript Framework programming languages; and supports and trains users in developed applications through documentation and hands-on sessions.

OR

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

OR

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR Experience? Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

GS-12: Specialized experience at the GS-11 or equivalent grade level is experience developing, implementing and maintaining both stand-alone and web-based applications using the full complement of Microsoft development tools and related technologies, to include the .NET Framework and Core runtimes within Visual Studio (using C#, VB, etc.), MS T-SQL Server, and JavaScript Framework programming languages; Web APIs and Services; Office 365's family of extended applications, such as Power Apps, Power Automate, and Planner; and supports and trains users in developed applications through documentation and hands-on sessions.
