Location: Silver Spring, MD Clearance Required: US Citizen, Public Trust Applicants selected will be subject to a public trust for moderate risk government security investigation and must clear security adjudication prior to starting work assignment Linux Engineer / Cloud Integration Services SME We are seeking a highly motivated, customer-oriented Cloud Integration Services SME to join our team. The selected candidate will support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Web Operation Center (WOC). This is a strategically important position that will have a large impact on an already successful organization. The WOC is comprised of approximately 150+ Debian and 20+ Ubuntu Linux platforms running a combination of applications such as Apache, Squid, Bind, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Open Monitoring Distribution (OMD), Distributed Replicated Block Device (DRBD), Open Street Maps and various other open source applications. The WOC also provides Cloud Computing and Hosting services that support all Amazon Web Services (AWS) (but not limited to AWS) which include Platform as a Services (Paas), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Software as a Services (SaaS). The WOC Cloud service objectives fall into the following categories: Infrastructure Designs, Virtual Computing and System Performance, Database design, Networking, Storage, Operation and Maintenance, Enterprise tagging scheme, and IT Cyber Security. The job requirements for the Cloud Integration Services SME position includes but be not limited to working directly with NOAA WOC customers in consulting, coding, migrating, and deployment of NOAA line office on premise websites into Cloud vendor offerings. The successful candidate must also have strong Linux System engineering administration background in support Linux based environments like the WOC environment. Hosting locations are geographic located across 9 NOAA Campuses throughout the United States, and AWS but the job site for this position is located on Silver Spring, MD. Job Requirements: Required support includes but is not limited to: Determine the level of effort and scope to perform work to migrate on premise services to AWS Process work requests from NOAA line office customer to migrate on premise services to AWS Create technical support cases for all AWS services Design, configure and implement network routing infrastructure Determine adequate storage requirements for AWS Provide maintenance and patching requirements within AWS including automation scripting Support and manage applications including Cloudcheckr and ServiceNow which provide visibility, usage analysis, performance metrics, reporting, cost information and situational awareness within the cloud platform Manage the comprehensive lifecycle management of Cloud resources and asset inventory. Assist with integration of Cloud service offerings into an enterprise service catalog, including management of usage and costs at the applications and service level. Assist in automating Cloud service offerings using tools such as ServiceNow Support Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) infrastructure provisioned to accommodate isolated VPC requirements as well as multiple VPCs within a VPC. Support VPCs that launch AWS resources in a virtual network including implementation and configuration of VPC Routing/Switches; Internet Gateway including routing tables, security groups and ACLs; CIDR blocks using IPv4 and IPv6 subnets; Routing tables for private and public facing VPC peering connections; Provide multiple layers of security, including security groups and network access control lists; VPC endpoint and endpoint services; Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and Gateways; VPC tracking with Cloudcheckr Provide Virtual Computing using default images or customized images within AWS including application resource requirement needs to migration new services or local on premise services into AWS, including: OS, CPU and RAM Enterprise level tagging scheme for virtual instance Develop Automation scripts predefine to create new virtual compute instances Provide capability to copy, clone, and customize instance and any associated pre-built images Provide capability to consume CPU cycles that exceed the allocated baseline limit for a short period of time (CPU bursting) Create schedule snapshots Distribute virtual compute workload by utilizing load or rule-based scaling (up or down) and define auto scaling groups Create virtual compute instances in multiple availability available zones Create Load Balancing failover methods between virtual compute instances Patch management including automation scripting Support customer with best practice clustered database/application on the following databases in the cloud including: DynamoDB, MYSQL and PostgreSQL. Provide security provisioning, operations, scaling, backups, patch management and replication, development, database production rollouts, and application database accounts Analyze general information assurance-related technical problems and provides basic engineering and technical support in solving these problems within the cloud migration plan Support high availability across Cloud environment, including load balancing and replication of servers and applications Required Qualifications: BS/BA degree in related field (or equivalent) and 6 to 8 years related experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent Customer Service skills Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities along with horizontal integration skills Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field (ie, EE, CPE, MIS, IT) or equivalent experience US Citizen and must continuously resided in the United States for the last three years (seven years preferred)
