ECS is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to work in our Fairfax, VA office. Job Description: Be a Lead Systems Engineer on one of the most high profile and significant cybersecurity systems in the US ECS seeks an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to support the operations and maintenance for the network and system environment of the Department of Homeland Security s Continuous Diagnostics Mitigation (CDM) project, which is being used by every Federal agency. This is an important project for our company and will be a resume builder for you. In this role you will provide architectural and hands-on administration with a specific focus on continual service improvement (CSI) and subject matter expert troubleshooting support. Position Responsibilities: Working alongside a dynamic operations team that includes technical engineers, DevOps engineers, development teams and technical leadership, the Lead Systems Engineer will support the existing windows-based COTS application and ultimately will need to be comfortable with transitioning to a completely new Linux platform environment. The position will focus on managing all systems administration duties including troubleshooting and resolving issues at the operating system or server level. Support activities may include, but not be limited to: Overall engineering responsibility for the system Managing to high availability and service level objectives Database maintainability and architecture Continual Service Improvement management Implement Enterprise Architecture concepts Become an expert with primary applications used in the system Incident identification, root cause analysis and resolution Recommendation and implementation of new and improved processes and procedures for system administration and maintenance We are seeking team-players who enjoy the challenge of problem solving, and learning new skills and technologies. You'll be working with a talented team in Fairfax, VA developing a leading-edge enterprise system that will protect Federal IT systems across the US It's an exciting project that will help many people. You will work onsite at the project team s location in Fairfax, VA, and the customer site in Ballston, VA. Required Skills: Must be a US Citizen Must be able to obtain TS/SCI Clearance and DHS Suitability Bachelor's Degree (IT or relevant STEM degree) 3+ years administering and troubleshooting N tier web applications to include database servers, services servers, and web servers in Windows and Linux environments 3+ years managing the deployment, maintenance and operations of web-based systems in Windows and Linux environments 3+ years basic network administration and troubleshooting Proven experience with software migrations and new deployments (On Prem or Cloud) Architecture focus, with a desire to improve configurations, DevOps, release, change, and operations management Experience supporting web-based systems performance analysis and optimization Manage to the security posture of the systems Proven automation and orchestration experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proven ability to interact with customer stakeholders, including senior leadership Desired Skills: Scripting/automation experience (Powershell, Python, etc..)
