Scholarship Coordinator

The George Mason University, Office of Student Financial Aid Office invites candidates to apply for the Scholarship Coordinator position. This position works independently to communicate the scholarship program through the webpage, coordinates the online application process, and is responsible for tracking reconciliation of scholarship information. Responsibilities: * Coordinate the scholarship application process for both internal and external scholarship funding sources; * Research, compile, and track information and /or confidential materials; * Maintain accuracy and validity of Mason Scholarship website, availability of scholarship information changes with new academic year; * As a system administrator to the online scholarship application, maintain the accuracy and validity of the online application process, and publicize the availability of all external and internal scholarship application procedures each year; * Responsible for the delivery and integrity of the scholarship applicant pool; * Maintain the applicant database, track, process and prepare applicant information in a timely matter for scholarship committee review; * Responsible for receipt, preparation, and reconciliation of internal and external scholarship information accurately into Banner for scholarship payments with the Cashier's Office, per federal regulations; * Keep accurate records of scholarship information for scholarship administrator and OSFA staff; * Handle the generic scholarship email account (gmusch@gmu.edu) in which all students and parents can email us with questions; * Counsel students and parents concerning available financial opportunities and help resolve issues and serve as a liaison between students and external agencies; * Compose, prepare and edit a variety of correspondence for the scholarship office to ensure all materials meet establish standards of appearance and content; * Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers through oral and written communications; * Respond to internal and external phone calls, e-mails, comments, and suggestions in a timely manner; meet all students who come in with questions about their scholarship requirements; * Supervisor to federal work-study student; coordinate work schedule, provide appropriate training and guidance regarding office procedures and policy, etc.; * May be assigned other tasks from supervisor.

Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Experience in college financial aid or higher education student services preferred; * Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, database use and manipulation; * Familiarity with website maintenance and design; * Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks/projects; * Ability to follow through on projects in order to meet tight deadlines; * Demonstrated experience delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment; * Ability to handle difficult customer interaction; * Must possess strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, project management and problem-solving skills; * Must be an independent, assertive self-starter; * Demonstrated attention to detail abilities; * Ability to follow procedures and guidelines under minimum supervision.

Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in a large, public university or student services environment; * Experience with Ellucian Banner and Salesforce.
