Assistant Teacher, Child Development Center

The George Mason University Child Development Center invites applications for an entry-level Assistant Teacher in a toddler classroom. Responsibilities: * Assists the classroom teacher in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate program, and assumes responsibility for the children in the group in the absence of the teacher; * Helps develop and maintain a safe, nurturing environment; * Supports the teacher in diapering and toileting procedures; * Assists with all written and verbal parent communication; and * Attends staff training as required.

Required Qualifications: * High school degree and completion of or working on a CDA credential issued by the Council for Professional Recognition or a minimum of 12 college credits in Early Childhood Education (ECE); * Demonstrated experience working with two-year-old children; * CPR and First Aid certification preferred, but may be completed after employment; and * Fingerprinting and sex offender background check will be conducted.

Preferred Qualification: * An Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education and one year of classroom experience in an early childhood setting.
