Operations Assistant

George Mason University, Student Centers, invites applications for 2 Operations Assistant positions. Please indicate which you shift you are applying for in the supplemental questions section. If you are available for either shift, please indicate the shift you most prefer, but you will be considered for either shift.

Position One Friday-Monday 6:30am-5pm (four 10 hour days) or Position Two Tuesday-Saturday 7:30am-4pm (five 8 hour days)

The primary purpose of this position is to provide daily operational and event support throughout the Student Centers and other supported facilities. Operational support includes preparing venues/areas for events (set-up/removal of tables/chairs/staging, etc.) Perform general building maintenance (basic repairs, dry/wet mopping, change lightbulbs, etc.) and provide customer service to all patroons of these spaces.

This position works closely with the Event Operation Crew Leaders to ensure proper support is available during all operating hours. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Event Services.

Responsibilities: Assist in the daily operations of university events regarding venue setups, custodial duties, light maintenance, and assist Student Centers' patrons with all aspects of support.

Required Qualifications: * Knowledge of housekeeping method, equipment and chemicals; * Ability to communicate verbally, read and write in English; * Basic computer knowledge including e-mail and able to learn and use basic computer programs used for event logistics and operations; * Must be able to climb and work on ladders (12' or less); * Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs; * Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications: * Custodial and or venue/event set up experience; * High school diploma or equivalent.
