Term Faculty - Department of Information Sciences and Technology

The George Mason University Department of Information Sciences and Technology, within the Volgenau School of Engineering, invites applications for one or more open rank full-time, non tenure-track, instructional faculty position beginning Fall 2020 or Spring 2021. The faculty rank will be commensurate with experience. About the Department: The position will be housed in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology. The department has 28 full-time faculty members. In addition to bachelor's and master's programs in Information Technology, the department also participates in several interdisciplinary degree programs offered by the Volgenau School of Engineering, including BS in Cyber Security Engineering, MS in Data Analytics Engineering, and PhD in Information Technology (concentration in IST). Responsibilities: * Teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level; * Developing and coordinating courses; * Managing adjunct faculty and graduate teaching assistants; * Participating in student advising; * Satisfying teaching and service requirements consistent with the departmental policies; * Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: * Candidates must have earned a PhD before the start date of the position in one of the following fields: information sciences, information technology, computer science, or a related field to be considered for a rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Candidates who have received an MS in information sciences, information technology, computer science, or a related field, will be considered for the rank of Instructor; * Must possess a strong commitment to and demonstrated excellence in teaching; * Applicants for the position at the Associate Professor rank should have significant experience; * While applicants in all areas of information sciences and technology will be considered, we are particularly interested in candidates who specialize in databases, cyber/information security, operating systems, and programming.

Preferred Qualifications: * Experience and/or ability to teach courses in at least one of the areas of databases, information security, operating systems, and programming. Practical experience in these areas is highly desired.
