Salary Range:  $131,239 to $197,300 per year

Position Location:  Washington, DC

The USCG is announcing a challenging Senior Executive Service career opportunity to serve as the Assistant Judge Advocate General (AJAG) for Acquisition and Litigation. The incumbent is responsible for acquisition legal services involving major systems as well as supply, service, ship repair, construction, research and development, energy, and information technology procurements, at all stages from requirement generation through award, contract administration, claims resolution, and litigation.

In addition, the AJAG:

Advises the Commandant, Vice Commandant, and Deputy Commandant for Mission Support as well as management, technical, and contracting officials at USCG Headquarters and oversees acquisition legal services at all other levels of the USCG including all logistics centers and operational commands.

Provides counsel and substantive legal advice, or oversees the provision of counsel and advice, on the full range of contract matters, for major systems acquisitions, innovatively financed energy contracts, and other procurements; including developing, planning, executing, or overseeing acquisition strategies, requirements, funding, solicitations, contract awards, contract clause interpretations, contract changes, contract performance, enforcement actions, cancellations, and terminations.

Serves as the USCG representative or oversees other attorneys in matters before the Government Accountability Office, Civilian Board of Contract Appeals, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, U.S. District Courts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Provides legal advice and counsel in all aspects of procurement and acquisition to prevent litigation, and recommends the compromise or settlement of protests and claims in the best interests of the USCG.

Leads and supervises a staff of attorneys who provide procurement law advice and counsel, and who represent the USCG in procurement litigation.
