Job Description

The Washington Post is seeking an articles editor for our award-winning weekly magazine.

The ideal candidate will be adept at long-form storytelling, someone who relishes magazine writing and is able to steer writers through the process of creating compelling narratives. They should also be skilled at commissioning and editing shorter, front-of-the-book features.

This candidate should have a wealth of story ideas about both Washington the city and the Washington of politics, and have the ability to elevate the work of both freelance writers and Washington Post journalists.

We want to continue to push the boundaries of creative storytelling in the magazine. Our editors should generate new ideas for presenting complicated and compelling stories to our growing digital audience, and to do so they must work effectively with our photo, video, graphics, design, homepage and audience teams.

The Post strives to provide its readers with high-quality, trustworthy news and information while constantly innovating. That mission is best served by a diverse, multi-generational workforce with varied life experiences and perspectives. All cultures and backgrounds are welcomed.

This position is based in our Washington newsroom. Once we resume normal operations, the position will not be eligible for remote work.
