Senior Science Coordinator
The American Association of Immunologists (AAI), the largest professional association for researchers in the field of immunology, seeks a scientist to be part of a publications department that oversees the peer review and editorial process for two primary research journals owned and published by the AAI: The Journal of Immunology, the oldest and most highly cited journal in the field, and ImmunoHorizons, a newer open-access journal.
This position requires an in-depth understanding of the principles of immunology and strong laboratory research experience. A successful publication record and strong science writing required. Experience in scholarly, STM publishing industry is a plus but not required. This position reports to the Director of Publications and will work directly with the Editors-in-Chief, Executive Editor, and members of the editorial boards. Sr. Science Coordinator’s scientific expertise may be required for other AAI activities as time permits. Staff is currently working remotely but when the office opens, on-site work will be required.
An advanced degree (Ph.D., or other advanced degree) in immunology or a related biological science with comprehensive knowledge of the principles of immunology and at least 3 years of post-doctoral experience are required. Must have excellent writing skills in both science and general writing. Some travel will be required.
