Summary

As a Health Communications Specialist, GS-1001-13, you will work with CMS healthcare related communications involving liaison work, issues resolution, and/or project management in the coordination, development, evaluation, and implementation of consumer information/education, health plan and special program and communications initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the review and assessment of Communications materials, campaigns, programs, strategies, projects and policies.
  • Assist in agency-wide communications planning, coordination and clearances.
  • Provide logistical support to leadership at events.
  • Coordinate projects on a wide range of significant management, program, policy, and operational issues.
  • Interact with senior personnel using diplomacy, tact, and discretion regarding staffing personnel on sensitive issues.

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:

1) Advise and assist senior leadership in decision making process related to communications;
2) Provide executive support, such as onsite logistics for events; AND
3) Experience working with various Public Relations officials, groups and organizations to develop communication material.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
