ENGINEER/SCIENTIST JUNIOR This position supports the NAVAIR 5.4.4.5 EMC Branch at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD in the performance of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Testing on various aircraft platforms, support equipment, and weapons systems to determine their EMI susceptibility and protection. Job Requirements:Responsibilities Applies E3 engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, and evaluate Naval airborne platforms, weapons, and avionics. Attends preliminary, critical and other design reviews to ensure E3 requirements are properly defined and implemented. Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation. Applies engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, qualification testing, or acquisition and resource management. Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, tests, and evaluates automated data processing software related to engineering or functional requirements of military systems, associated support systems, or management informational systems. Responsible for study, design, specification and services related to electrical and electronic systems including power generation, transmission and distribution, power systems performance and control, cabling and wiring, lighting, motor control centers, communications systems, cathodic protection, grounding lightning protection, heat tracing etc. Under direct supervision, evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Assists in the design of larger and more complex assignments which involve conventional types of plans, investigations and surveys with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents. Evaluate job tasks for correctness and their impact on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations. Execute assignments that are generally well defined, with clearly specified objectives, and strict deadlines. Assignments usually include one or more of the following: design and development, testing of materials, preparation or checking of design calculations and specifications, studies, research investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope.
