The Delaware Office of AARP is looking for a Communications and Outreach Intern to join our dedicated team in Wilmington, Delaware. This is a paid postion through December, 2020. It will be provide support remotely until further notice.

  • Work with volunteers to provide support, training
  • Events logistics
  • Represent AARP in communities
  • Assist with advocacy and implementation of legislative priorities.
  • Social media generation, monitoring and maintenance
  • Video/photography
  • Maintain Web features at
  • Some news and features writing
  • Proofreading/editing
  • Assist with media liaison
  • Maintain information flow to the community (e-blasts, info packets, special mailings)
  • Work with volunteers of all types at events, in office etc., trainings
  • Other administrative duties as needed
  • Support State Director/Advocacy/Outreach functions as needed.


Prospective intern must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post doctorate students.

AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
