The Medical Assistant (CP&A) will be responsible to perform a variety of basic medical, patient care and administrative activities to assist providers in
a primary care setting and patient care management.


Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED

Specific Requirements and Preferences
Graduate from a Medical Assistant Training Program. (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience
1 year

Specific Requirements and Preferences
At least 3 months to 1 year experience in a medical office setting. (Required)

Medical Assistant Training Certificate. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Basic math calculations.
Knowledge of examinations, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
Medical equipment and medical terminology.
Experience with electronic medical records.

Functional Accountabilities

Patient Care
1. Prepare patients for examination and treatment; verify patient by name, age and date of birth; review electronic health record for immunizations and labs; perform and record vital signs in HER; instruct patient in basic testing requirements and medical procedures; clean exam and treatment rooms after patient encounter.
2. Administer vaccines, medications and treatments as prescribed by provider.
3. Collect and process lab specimens.
4. Observe and report patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to provider.
5. Assist providers with management of patient allergies, medications and history.
6. Prepare and maintain medical supplies and equipment

Administrative Duties
1. Process lab referrals within electronic health care module.
2. Perform phone follow-up for lab results and instructions per provider.
3. Perform vaccine inventory and have knowledge of storage and vaccine handling process.
4. Perform phone follow-up for lab results and instructions per provider.
5. Assist providers with management of patient allergies, medications and history
6. Complete requests for school and medication forms.

Immunization History
1. Accurately document immunization history in electronic health record.
2. Communicate to assigned staff discrepancies in immunization history , labs, medications, etc.

Non-Essential Function
1. Understand guidelines regarding HIPPA and OSHA regulations.
2. Develop a working knowledge of insurances and billing processes.
3. Demonstrate knowledge of Vaccine for Children and private stock vaccines Demonstrate knowledge of Referrals.
