This position requires the incumbent to be bilingual in English and Spanish with a proficiency level that meets the Institutes minimum standards.The Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor I (LCPC I) is a primary therapist to children, adolescents, and families traumatized by abuse, neglect, and exposure to violence. This staff member will complete assessments and develops the diagnosis and treatment plan for the child and family. The Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress at Kennedy Krieger Institute has been operating for over 30 years and has received national recognition. The LCPCis a primary therapist to children and families who have been exposed to abuse, neglect, and violence. The LCPC utilizes the information gained by the interdisciplinary evaluation services in the development and implementation of a treatment plan for the child and his/her family. Provides psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, young adults, and families including diagnosis and treatment through individual, group, or family treatment.If indicated, collaborates with the referring agency, the school system, community agencies, and the juvenile court system to assist in the development of a service plan for the child and family and to assure that the children are receiving the appropriate services.Participates in individual supervision, clinic meetings, administrative staff meetings, and in-service training.Maintains client activity at the projected level set by the administrative staff.Maintains a medical record for each child which includes a diagnostic interview, treatment plan, progress notes, periodic reviews, transfer and discharge summaries.May participate in the field instruction program and supervise social work trainees when interest and capacity is demonstrated; may participate in community activity related to the needs of traumatized children and their families; and/or committee projects.EDUCATION:Must have a Master s degree in professional counseling or related field with a minimum of 60 graduate semester credit hours or 90 graduate quarter credit hours OR A doctoral degree with a minimum of 90 graduate semester credit hours or 135 graduate credit hours.Must be licensed at the LCPC level by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.Bilingual in English and Spanish with a proficiency level that meets the Institutes minimum standards. Able to speak Spanish fluently with ease and confidence in a variety of topics related to work, home, leisure activities, as well as events of current, public or personal interest or individual relevance. Able to convey intended message with accuracy, clarity and precision without misrepresentation or confusion while being readily understood by native speakers.EXPERIENCE:Must have at a minimum of two years of licensed clinical experience related to providing services to children in the child welfare population with developmental and emotional disturbance.Clinical experience with underserved minority populations and promotion of social justice are encouraged to apply.
