The Emmes Company, LLC is searching for a Programmer Analyst-Health Informatics located in our Rockville, Maryland, Frederick, Maryland and/or Tysons Corner, Virginia office. Emmes provides flexibility for office location or work remote preference dependent upon position.

Primary Purpose

The Programmer Analyst - Health Informatics supports a wide range of health-related integration services including but not limited to DICOM (digital imaging and communications in medicine) image management, data science, and reporting solutions as they apply to clinical research systems. The ideal candidate will have a robust skill set to support integration of health-information into our clinical research workflow using a variety of programming languages and new technologies

Responsibilities
  • Designs and develops software to support web-based clinical trials application in a
    heterogeneous environment.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage data to drive business
    solutions.
  • Participates in functional/system requirements gathering, peer code reviews, and assists with
    the creation of appropriate documentation.
  • Integrates various third-party data including but not limited to excel sheets, electronic
    health-related systems (EHRs), devices, and external applications.
  • Develops, debugs, and releases software to different environments.
  • Supports cloud based medical imaging activities including DICOM image management, PACS
    support and administration, and integration with clinical research systems.
  • Provides programming support for different web-based interactive reporting and data
    visualization tools.
  • Assists internal team with programming scripts to automate dev-ops and other manual
    tasks.
  • Participates in regular project and department meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience
  • B.S. in Computer Science/Engineering/Math or a related field with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in querying relational (MS SQLServer or MySQL or similar) and/ or
    no-SQL databases (MongoDB or DynamoDB or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical research or health-related information
  • Experience in writing automated scripts
  • Demonstrated programming skills in multiple languages like Java, Python, R, SQL or similar
  • Demonstrated report writing and data analysis skills using R/Shiny, PowerBI, Qlik or Tableau
  • Knowledge of variety of machine learning techniques and cloud service or AWS is preferred
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
