The primary purpose of this position is to serve as one of the key members of the Base Civil Engineer (BCE) MAXIMO Asset Management System, Interim Work Information Management Systems (IWIMS) Team, and the Automated Civil Engineering Systems (ACES) and technical expert on legacy and modern computer systems.

Responsibilities

  • Administers all CED information systems. Monitors ongoing operation of network systems to ensure hardware and software are functioning properly and operational standards are met.
  • Administers MAXIMO and Interim Work Information Management Systems (IWIMS) for specific work centers and provides technical support and advisory services for the legacy IWIMS to support local and upward reporting requirements.
  • Assists the team leader in accomplishing CE automation planning, coordination, and implementation. Coordinates installations of equipment and software. Identifies improvements that satisfy the users? needs or correct problems.
  • Provides-training and assistance to customers. Completes orders for equipment and supplies through AFWAY or other approved vendors. Performs as the primary Telephone Control Officer (TCO).
  • Maintains a comprehensive computer hardware inventory to include ADP equipment, standalone computers, and peripheral and assorted supply items.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule, Technical and Medical Support Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR CURRENT/FORMER FEDERAL EMPLOYEES: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of civil engineering systems, operational policies, and procedures; computer equipment, internal computer processes, application and utility programs, and magnetic media; knowledge of a wide range of reoccurring computer techniques, requirements, sources, and procedures; established methods, procedures, and principles to identify system failures, take corrective actions to resume normal operations, and implement procedures to allow for partial use until problems are resolved; knowledge of some elements of programming, systems analysis, and equipment operations.

EDUCATION:

Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of DoD and Army and AF computer and network standards, policies, and techniques.

2. Knowledge of servers and commercial off the shelf/government off the shelf software to identify corrective or preventative actions to ensure optimum performance.

3. Knowledge of facility environment and infrastructure to support computer systems.

4. Skills in troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to solve conventional problems and provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers.

5. Ability to use and maintain a computer system, equipment, and software; analyze computer network, software, and hardware problems and develop effective and economical solutions; and train users on new computer systems.

6. Ability to communicate factual and procedural information clearly, both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
