Description Job Description:The Leidos Advanced Solutions Group is seeking you, our next Storage / VMware Engineer to provide technical engineering and systems administration support to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in Bethesda, MD. As the Storage / VM Engineer, you will assist with the design, deploy and maintain VMware products including VM servers, VDIs, vSANs and vCenter. At the same time, you will support as a technical systems administration, installation, configuration and troubleshooting required hardware supporting all VMs and Storage capability. Help perform and manage the full lifecycle of the physical and virtual hardware, software and systems tasks to include design, test/evaluate, system integration, system testing, system setup, installation, configuration, and deployment along with establishment of all associated documentation. Work closely with the DHS IT Team and Team Lead to ensure synergies and alignment between the DHS requirements and objectives are met. These will be your key tasks: * Build, install, configure, and troubleshoot VMWare based servers and systems* Extensive knowledge of VMWare products including, but not limited to vSphere, VMware Enterprise PKS, vCenter Servers, vSANs, and VDIs* Ability to maintain and support VMware storage-based system tools such as VMware Site recovery Manager, vSANs and Virtual Volumes * Assist with phase-in activities including initial HW/SW configuration tests and network connectivity* Maintain the deployment environment according to the systems engineering specifications and baseline configuration at given points in time* Deploy, operate, diagnose, and maintain containerized (Docker) microservices across orchestrated (Kubernetes) environments* Maintain and orchestrate services and procedures for a big data pipeline which includes Elasticsearch, and several in house written python/java running on Kubernetes* Orchestrate staging and production deployment* Develop scripts to monitor and check health of the deployed pipeline* Maintain and develop DevOps automation using tools (eg, GIT, Jenkins, Saltstack, Ansible, Puppet)* Design, develop, and support scalable, redundant infrastructure to include physical and virtualized environments* Improve existing infrastructure to incorporate latest technology best practices and cross application integrations* Day-to-day collaboration with IT teams, to influence design, and architect solutions in multi-tiered environments* Manage individual project priorities, deliverables, and deadlines* Produce clear documentation for delivered solutionsThis is you:* BS in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent experience with 6+ years in systems engineering, systems integration and systems administration (10+ years without BS)* Must have an active TS clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Polygraph security clearance* Experience managing full life cycle of complex systems* Demonstrable knowledge of systems integration and systems administration concepts and applying these concepts to software and data intensive systems* Systems administration (Windows, RHEL, etc.) and networking experience (LAN; DHCP; DNS; Active Directory) hardware setup/installation/configuration experience (physical and VM)* Experience with deployment and operations of containers as well as container orchestration tools* Experience orchestrating workflows to execute at predefined times, including workflows that have data dependencies.* Familiar with DevOps tools; scripting* Experience with VMware tools/environment* Experience in an operations role* Patching servers, backups, permission management* Experience providing Tier II & III Windows and Linux support* Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience* Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing* Ability to get CompTIA Security+* Experience designing, integrating, configuring, and testing systems * Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex system problems and develop innovative solutions. * Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of system integration activities. * Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience* Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writingD3P LInCExternal Referral EligibleExternal Referral Bonus:EligiblePotential for Telework:NoClearance Level Required:Top SecretTravel:Yes, 10% of the timeScheduled Weekly Hours:40Shift:DayRequisition Category:ProfessionalJob Family:Systems EngineeringLeidos is a Fortune 500(R) information technology, engineering, and science solutions and services leader working to solve the world's toughest challenges in the defense, intelligence, homeland security, civil, and health markets.
