Production Network Engineer Lockport, NY Dulles, VA 18 Months plus possible extension or perm The Operations Center acts as the central nervous system for technology and products. The team is responsible for the health and performance of more than 100,000 systems globally. Engineers in this role are exposed to the most advanced web serving infrastructure in the world! You will be the 1st line of offense battling issues affecting the reliability of our products and services, you will also be responsible for interfacing with internal/external customers on operational issues, working with senior engineers resolving complex incidents, and facilitating communication between various operations and engineering teams. You will coordinate operations and engineering teams to identify, triage, and resolve customer-impacting incidents, verify service impact to the end-users, and work alongside subject matter experts to identify the root cause. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills; critical thinking and troubleshooting skills; the ability to multitask in order to facilitate the resolution of multiple incidents at any given time; and the vision to automate in order to better scale and streamline processes. Responsibilities: Monitor the production network infrastructure for stability and performance in order to maintain 24x7x365 operations Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies within a dynamic and extremely fast-paced environment. Ability to be self-directed in daily workload management. Ability to effectively communicate via phone and in writing. Collaborate effectively with our Incident, Engineering, and Development teams. Participate in the knowledge transfer on a short term and long term basis Job Requirements: Required Qualifications : An Associate s degree or higher in a computer-related field or equivalent industry experience. Typical candidates have a Bachelor s of Science degree in a computer-related field or equivalent experience in a related field. Working knowledge of a TCP/IP network environment is crucial Working knowledge of major network protocols, eg BGP, OSPF, ISIS, Spanning Tree Working knowledge of basic Linux command line system health diagnostic tools. Working knowledge of HTTP, DNS, and DHCP is preferred. Certifications such as CCNA and JNCIA or equivalent are preferred No Sub-Contract, Third Parties or Corp to Corp arrangements! W2 only!
