Want the opportunity to step on the gas and deliver a business focused data layer to drive GEICO forward? As the Manager of the Data Engineering team, you will be responsible for delivery of the Data Layer within GEICO's Enterprise Data Platform. Working together with others in GEICO's Data Organization, you'll help turn data within the Big Data Platform into fuel for analysis, reporting and models and fill a key role in executing the strategic data transformation vision. In this role you will establish a high trust partnership within the data department, with business partners, and other IT groups. Manage up to thirty developers and technologists. Together with Scrum Masters and Product Owners, develop self-directed, innovative, and high performing agile teams. Develop and communicate unit vision, strategies, critical success factors Roles and Responsibilities: o Establish implementation roadmap for enabling wider use of data through Data Marts/Stores or an established Cloud Data Platform. o Establish best practices for data usage with self-service tools and work with Governance team to enforce them, o Determine strategic priorities for development of capabilities o Ensure Data Quality is maintained in the data layer through controls to meet the accuracy and timeliness of the data. o Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning o Actively participate in Data Governance Efforts. Qualifications: o 5+ years hands-on experience developing data lake, data warehouse and/or analytic solutions. o 4+ years of people leadership experience with direct accountability for managing employees o Engineering leadership role in the delivery of a cloud-based data platform. o Experience in data science, machine learning, and advanced analytic tools o Experience leading teams of 10+ software developers in an agile development environment o Experience leading development teams through re-platform or modernization efforts o Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field in business, finance, or mathematics.
