McCarthy Services, providing comfort to Northern Virginia for over 25 years! Currently looking to add a HVAC Installation Crew to our team as we are experiencing an extremely high call volume. Installs, adds-on, replaces and/or retrofits HVAC equipment, components and systems in residential settings. Maintains good customer relations by providing viable product usage information to the customer and performing installations according to desired specifications. Applies technical skills and a general knowledge of industry standards to all work. Removes any equipment that will be replaced, reads layout prints and installs duct/flex systems and equipment according to job requirements. Wraps duct with insulation and seals, as needed. Secures duct and places Company stickers on installed equipment. Connects new equipment with electrical, drains, freon lines and ducts before start-up. Cuts holes, as needed. Assembles HVAC units and condensers and places/installs air boxes, registers, thermostats, coils, air handlers, heat pumps, copper line sets and risers in the installation process. Takes measurements and stretches/lays out ductwork before installation to ensure accuracy in layout. May modify existing space to accommodate new equipment or build unit platform for unit, ensuring that it can carry the weight for the unit and technician. Installs refrigerant lines, fans, appliance vents, smoke detectors, humidifiers and grills. Brazes in freon lines and pressurizes with nitrogen. Evacuates freon out of units, as required. Wires the main power line of the unit, ensuring that high and low voltages are secure. Tests gas pressure on line sets when gas lines are placed so that lines can work with the system. Sets drain pans to meet drop flow rates and installs and tests drain lines to ensure proper installation. May install gas lines, gas fireplace inserts and gas logs to include venting of system. Provides product usage information to the customer for proper operation and presents customer with warranties. Tests equipment by releasing charge from unit, starting unit and checking pressures with gauges to ensure proper operation. Ensures that all HVAC installations are accurate, serviceable and that materials used and workmanship meets the requirements of applicable technical/safety standards and regulatory codes. Makes any modification needed to ensure proper installation and air balance. Transports materials and tools to the job site and provides proper accounting of tools. Contacts supervisor or dispatch to discuss any problems on the job. A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred as well as a minimum of two (2) years of electrical/HVAC trades service training or completion of an approved apprentice program. Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. EPA certification is required when dealing with refrigerants. A Journeyman licensure and a working knowledge of basic carpentry, gas piping, electricity and air flow are desired. Must know proper methods of cleaning heating and air conditioning components and be able to disassemble and reassemble/properly align HVAC units.
