This position will be assigned to the Fort Eustis Outdoor Recreation. This position may be subject to holidays, nights, weekends and on-call work.

Responsibilities

Performs oversight, operational duties and maintenance of the Joint Base Langley-Eustis/Ft Eustis VA, Privately Owned Firearms (POF) program. Works closely with Range Operations and Security Forces to ensure the program is operated in a safe manner and all rules and regulations are adhered to. Verifies individuals are authorized users of the program and briefs all participants on rules and regulations.

Responsible for the safety of all customers. Provide range orientation monthly for new members. Have supervision over all shooters at the range and ensure firearm safety precautions are strictly adhered to.
Must be able to handle and deal with any possible malfunctions and know what to do in the case of an emergency. Ensure strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor all activity on shooting lanes. Assist POF members with appropriate lane and target operations. Promote and execute instructional programs and shooting events. Set-up all shooting tables and targets and perform maintenance of targets.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience with firearms. Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Position requires satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public with tact and diplomacy. Must complete a Range Safety Office Course within first 30 days of employment and maintain certification. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Position requires satisfactory completion of a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). "This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use"

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
