Responsibilities

The selectee:
  • Briefs Director and other senior management on the division's direction, achievements and objectives.
  • Prepares budget, justifies and recommends resource allocations.
  • Works with various groups within the OIG, Department, and other Federal agencies to establish
    and maintain a sustainable physical security program for OIG facilities nationwide.
  • Collaborates with Facilities Management in work related to the design and construction of OIG
    environments to promote the safety and security of employees and property.
  • Develops an OIG specific Continuity of Operations and Occupant Emergency Program.
  • Participates in department-wide programs for emergency preparedness, natural and man-made
    disaster response and other emergency program responsibilities, including coordination
    responsibilities with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and other federal departments
    and agencies.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-14 grade level:

Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience in security and emergency management policy requirements to function as the technical authority in assignments requiring the application of new theories and developments to problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted methods or procedures; and experience in other security specialties, emergency management and planning, real property management, commercial facility design, and construction in performing key decision making and policy-developing responsibilities in very difficult assignments such as planning for significantly new program requirements and problems requiring innovative solutions.

Security and Background Requirements: A background security investigation will be required for all appointees.
