Essential Job ResponsibilitiesThe primary role is to support the United States Postal Service (USPS) APPS and EPPS sortation machinesWill engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design equipmentWill have a hands-on role designing, engineering and exploring prototype and test solutions for supporting End of Life (EOL) parts with new innovations that support mail processingWill continually find new and better ways to solve complex problems within constrained environmentsWill demonstrate cross-functional expertise to accomplish your goalsWill play a role in defining the approaches and solutions being developed by the entire teamYou must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environmentWill need to travel occasionally to support testing/deployment/installation for software and hardware at USPS mail processing center or vendor facility within United StatesMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of professional service3+ years of experience in machine design, packaging equipment design, robotics or industrial production, or other mechatronics industry as a systems engineer2+ years of experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments1+ years of experience working with automation toolsKnowledge in Hardware and software architecture/system interfaces on automation equipmentQuick learner and willing to go through extensive training/learningTravel at USPS processing center and vendor location within United StatesApplicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified informationMust be able to obtain and keep a USPS Sensitive ClearanceMust be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder and have been living in the US for at least the last five yearsMust not have traveled outside of the United States for more than 180 days in the last five yearsAll candidates will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and drug screening per HII requirementsPreferred RequirementsExperience in 24x7 production environmentsIndustrial controls engineering experience (PLC programming, vision systems, sensors and instrumentation)Proficiency with machine and process reliability, integration of human and automated processes, experimental design, statistical analysisKnowledge of analog, digital design, and digital signal processing techniquesKnowledge of specifications for standard electronic interfaces and protocolsKnowledge of BASH/Powershell/Python/Ruby or any other scripting languagesExperience with continuous integration/continuous deployment methodologiesAbility to perform deep, technical troubleshootingStrong documentation skillsStrong knowledge of networking technologiesHave proven experience to develop and test mechanical logistics packing equipment working with equipment suppliers, laboratories and manufacturing plantsAbility to understand Operational processes and hands-on experienceShow good judgement making technical trade-offs between your groups short term and long term business needs, and the needs of the company as a wholeAble to communicate project status, drive and elevate decision making and help requestsAbility to conduct multiple weekly/bi-weekly/monthly standing meetings with internal teams and vendors to plan and track deliverablesSupport development of technical specifications with engineered solutionsHands-on experience with equipment design, machine design, system development and product integrationWorking knowledge using MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project, and software for technical document writing such as Visio, Word, Excel and/or PowerPointHuntington Ingalls Industries is an Equal Opportunity/Vets and Disabled Employer.
