Corporate Counsel What you'll do in your role.Provides legal advice on privacy laws and regulations, internal policies, and industry best practices;Performs privacy and security research and fact-gathering as necessary to support legal advice and other duties; Performs privacy impact assessments and similar analyses of existing and proposed products, services, systems, and processes, and creates appropriate design and compliance requirements;Partners with and provides counsel and support to the digital advertising and marketing teams;Prepares and presents privacy and security presentations and advocacy to internal and external groups;Drafts and negotiates privacy and data security provisions in commercial contracts;Drafts internal and public-facing privacy policies and other documentation;Analyzes proposed privacy and security legislation and regulations and provides subject matter expertise to the Government Affairs team, especially on areas involving advertising; Conducts targeted privacy training to raise privacy and security awareness across the enterprise;Assists with data incident response and remediation efforts;Assists with the development and implementation of privacy compliance controls and reviews;Assists with privacy and security merger and acquisition due diligence and integration activities; andAssists with other projects and duties as assigned.The experience you'll bring.JD from a reputable law school;Current Washington State bar membership, in good standing (or good standing membership in at least one US state bar, with the ability to become a licensed member of the Washington State bar);Minimum of 6-8 years of experience as a lawyer in a law firm or in-house legal department, with a practice focus on privacy, preferably related to advertising;Working knowledge of major privacy and security laws, regulations and self-governing frameworks (eg, GDPR, CCPA, CANSPAM, TCPA, FTC Act, GLBA, FCRA, DAA, IAB, etc.);Contract negotiation experience (eg, negotiating privacy and security provisions in master service agreements, statements of work, etc.); Demonstrated ability to perform and document detailed privacy research and synthesize advice into concise summaries;Demonstrated ability to identify relevant facts (and separate irrelevant facts) and apply a governing legal framework or policy;Demonstrated ability to provide practical and actionable advice in a dynamic and ambiguous legal environment;Demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously;Excellent verbal and written language skills; andExcellent personal computer skills. Preferred Qualifications:Practical experience with the development and implementation of privacy programs especially in the ad tech space;Practical experience leading complex projects and other high-impact initiatives;Practical experience in the field of telecommunications law (including CPNI regulations);Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other legal and business professionals in a complex organization to efficiently deliver results;Demonstrated ability to concisely summarize and present complex privacy and security topics and advice to internal and external audiences;Demonstrated ability to interact with senior management and the capacity to develop executive maturity and leadership skills; and1 or more privacy certifications.Strong prioritization skills, and execution and results orientation with customer focusAbility to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines, and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentDesire and ability to work as part of a teamJD from an accredited university with outstanding academic credentials
