This is a full-time position located at the NIHcampus in Bethesda, MD.NCBI is part of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). NCBI is the world's premier biomedical center hostingover six million daily users that seek research, clinical, genetic, and other information that directly impacts biomedical research and public health - at NCBI you can literally help to accelerate cures for diseases! NCBI's wide range of applications, platforms (node, python, Django, C++, you name it) andenvironments (big data [petabytes], machine learning, multiple clouds) serve more users than almost any other US Government Agency according to Mid-level Software Developer will work to develop and support software solutions for the ClinVar product line, which processes data submissions fromusers worldwide who are reporting variants found in patient samples, assertions made regarding their clinical significance, information regarding thesubmitter, as well as other supporting data. The product then presents the data interactively for use in daily workflows and other local applications. TheClinVar product line works in collaboration with organizations to meet the needs of the medical genetics community as efficiently and effectively aspossible.Duties & ResponsibilitiesResponsible for contributing to the design, development and maintenance of the ClinVar product lineBuild robust, high performing, user-facing web applications in Python and DjangoContribute to the design, development and modernization of legacy pipelines (Micro-Services and APIs)Learn new technologies, keep up with the internal systems, and share your knowledge with the teamWork as an integral part of an Agile development team to support the existing submission pipelines and reportingRequirements3+ years of experience in Software DevelopmentProficiency in Python and DjangoExperience working with relational SQL databasesExperience working with multiple data formats (XML , JSON, CSV)Experience in Selenium testingExperience with UI, CSS and JavaScriptProgramming experience in a Linux environmentFluency in at least one scripting language such as Bash, PerlExperience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and unit, integration and regression testingDesired SkillsExperience with workflow management systems like Apache AirFlowExperience developing web services and RESTful APIsKnowledge of Agile software development techniques and practicesExperience in C++Experience in processing large amounts of dataMedical Science & Computing (MSC), a Dovel company, is an Equal Opportunity Employer with a commitment to diversity.
